Rene was brought from Venezuela to the US in 1964 as a professional baseball player to be observed by the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He later realized his childhood dream of becoming a citizen of the US and a full-time artist. Having taught himself English by drawing, he is the poster child to attest that drawing is the basic means of communication. He loved school and learning, but no mater how hard he tried, his brain did not maintain statistics - historical dates, formulas or mathematical equations. Only recently he learned he is dyslexic. Difficulty with learning caused him to lose his self-respect. However, when the school needed costume designs, posters or banners for special events, Rene became their art director which reestablished his confidence. Rene did not go to college because of his failing grades and the financial circumstances of his family, yet all he ever wanted was to be an artist. Today Rene is internationally recognized in the world of art through his New York Soho murals: I Am The Best Artist, Rene. Now Rene wants to help those like himself to fulfill their dreams. Since 1972 Rene has devoted his own funds, time and energy toward the preservation of the environment throughout the Americas.

The basic materials are Styrofoam, plastic bottles and paper. Just as nature encapsulates toxic materials with vegetation, these rocks are encapsulated in paper. Rene creates these Montauk Rock Sculptures to educate about the perils of polluting the environment.

Given that letters, numbers and written musical notes are the drawings of sounds, it follows that without drawing neither culture nor academic studies would be possible. Art helps students develop creative thinking and hones their power of observation. Censorship is a form of slavery, and self-censorship is slavery perfected. Through art, self-censorship can be replaced with self-esteem.
I always wanted to be an artist. I didn't know I was already one. I never wanted to be just an ordinary artist; so I worked hard to become extraordinary.
